Only time for a quick post today. This is a song performed by the Scottish band Belle & Sebastian. It is from a live recording they did in Paris, called The Black Sessions.
The song is “Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son” which means “Wax doll, Rag doll”. It won the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest, performed for Luxembourg by French singer France Gall. The song was written by Serge Gainsbourg.
Here is the Belle & Sebastian version.
Which is your favourite Belle & Sebastian song? Or your favourite Serge Gainsbourg song?
Marieke here…you are making me nostalgic for college…i listened to a lot of Belle and Sebastian and Serge Gainsbourg. have to think about favorites, though. for B&S…almost all of the Sinister album probably… 🙂
It’s ok to be nostalgic Marieke, once you pass a certain age 🙂
I think their album title “Fold your hands child, you walk like a peasant” has to be one of the best album titles ever!
[…] song I have blogged about, the other one being their cover of “Poupée de Cire”, here. […]
